Bishop Lynch High School Announces New Head Baseball Coach

Bishop Lynch High School welcomes Ty Washington as its new head baseball coach, bringing professional playing experience with the Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins organizations, as well as a strong background in player development and program leadership, to the Friars. With more than five years of head coaching experience, Washington has built a reputation for developing competitive teams while emphasizing character, discipline, and teamwork.

A former professional infielder, Washington was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2011 and spent five seasons in the organization's minor league system from 2011-16. He continued his professional playing career with the Miami Marlins organization in 2017, gaining valuable experience and developing the competitive mindset, technical skills, and leadership qualities that now shape his coaching philosophy.

Since 2019, Washington has served as president and head coach of Citius Baseball Organization in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, overseeing program operations across multiple age groups. His responsibilities include player development, staff supervision, recruiting, scheduling, and in-game strategy. Through his leadership, he has focused on building a culture of accountability, teamwork, and personal growth while preparing players for competition at the local and national levels.

His coaching experience also includes a stint as an assistant baseball coach at Bishop Dunne Catholic School from 2018–19, where he helped lead varsity practices, implement game strategies, and support student-athletes' academic and personal development in a Catholic school environment.

In addition to his coaching career, Washington serves as an operations manager at Parkland Health & Hospital System, where he leads staff and oversees day-to-day operations in a high-accountability environment. He looks forward to bringing his professional playing experience, leadership, and commitment to character development to Bishop Lynch as he builds a program that reflects the Friar family's values and traditions.
