DALLAS, TX -- Mother Nature held off long enough for the Bishop Lynch baseball team to celebrate the seniors in their program and defeat a tough non-district opponent in Pottsboro 5-2 last night in McIngvale Field.
Brandon Bertsch got the start on the mound and the senior did not disappoint. The lefty went 4.0 innings with seven strikeouts and only two hits allowed. The bullpen was also dominant on the mound Tuesday night as
Sebastian Vasquez and
Sam Elrich combined for 3.0 innings pitched, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out three.
The team's bats spread out the wealth as eight different Friars recorded a hit. The biggest hit in the ball game came from
Alex Peredo who got called on to pinch hit in the bottom of the sixth. The powerful junior got ahold of a pitch and launched it to the right field wall for a double that scored one run making it 4-2 BL.
Bishop Lynch held a ceremony for the seniors before the game where they were honored with their families. They have all accomplished so much as student-athletes at BL. Congratulations to senior players
Brady Bertsch,
Brandon Bertsch,
Ryder Bunfill and
Josh Thornhill for all they have accomplished on and off the field at BL.
With the win last night, the varsity baseball team record improved to 28-8-1 on the season. The 28 wins tie a record held by the 2008-2009 baseball team that went 28-7 for most wins in program history. Congratulations to the entire program for an amazing accomplishment.
