After nine Friars were selected to the TAPPS Division 1-District 1 All-District team (read here), four more were named to the TAPPS Division 1 All-State Teams.

TAPPS First Team All-State:

Brandon Bertsch:
Bertsch started 16 on the bump for the Friars this past year. He went 11-4 with a 1.73 ERA. He finished with 108 strikeouts and an opponent batting average of just .173. He became just the second Friar pitcher in school history to reach 100+ strikeouts in a single season. 

TAPPS Second Team All-State:

Luke Sokolovic:
Sokolovic "Soko" had a great season for the black and white playing majority center field and leading off for the Friars. The sophomore finished the season with a .323 average and a team-high in runs (35) but found his game in district play and the playoffs. In the 13 district/playoff games, Soko had a team-high in batting average (.441) and hits (15). 


TAPPS Honorable Mention All-State:

Sam Elrich
Elrich stepped up and was not only an outstanding #2 pitcher but he also was very important in the hitting lineup. On the mound, the sophomore finished with six wins, two saves, 50 strikeouts and a 3.09 ERA. At the plate, Elrich hit .343 and drove in 20 runs, good for fourth on the team. 

Josh Thornhill
Thornhill was a great surprise for the Friars this season. Everyone in the program knew he would be an important piece to the team, but the senior stepped up and outperformed what everyone thought. He finished the season hitting better than .300 with four doubles and a triple.
