Friars Earn Key District Road Win Over Eagles

FRISCO — Senior Julian Alcala dominated on the mound, striking out 10 batters over 5.1 innings of no-hit baseball to lead the Bishop Lynch baseball team to a 9-3 victory over Legacy Christian Academy on Tuesday night at Jay Allison Field. It marked Alcala's third consecutive start with double-digit strikeouts — a feat rarely accomplished in program history.

The Friars (14-13-1, 3-4) bounced back in a big way, splitting the two-game series with the Eagles after a 1-0 loss at McIngvale Field the previous week.

Bishop Lynch set the tone early, plating three runs in the top of the first inning behind back-to-back doubles from Will McGuinness and Noah Herrmann. The Friars continued to apply pressure throughout the night, building a commanding 9-0 lead before Legacy Christian scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Herrmann and Jack Bacsik anchored the heart of the lineup, combining for five RBIs. Herrmann added three runs scored, matching McGuinness for the team high. McGuinness finished 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored in a strong leadoff performance.

Despite a few late runs from the Eagles, the Friars' early offensive surge and dominant pitching proved to be more than enough to secure the district road win.
