The Lady Friars are hoping Monday's offensive output is a sign of things to come as the ladies enter the last – and most important – portion of their schedule.
Bishop Lynch (5-7, 3-2) is currently third in the district standings following last night's 12-0 rout of Bishop Dunne at Roffino Stadium, sitting one game behind John Paul II (4-1) and two back of first-place Ursuline (5-0).
With three matches to go before the playoffs begin, the Lady Friars will see each of those teams again, starting with Thursday's home game against John Paul II, where they hope to avenge a 6-0 loss to the Cardinals earlier this month.
The Lady Friars will host Prestonwood on Jan. 27, then close out the regular season Jan. 30 against Ursuline, who topped Bishop Lynch by a 2-0 margin in mid-December.
Hopefully, some of the momentum from last night's win will carry over.
Jillian Jackson scored four goals, raising her team-high total to 17 this season,
Gabby Dunn added a pair of goals and assisted on three others.
Mariana Zevallos added two assists.
The Lady Friars scored nine goals in the first half and five in a span of 14 minutes.
Kendall Hardesty, who started all three matches during last week's Duncanville Tournament, earned her first win in goal, recording a shutout with a save. Hardesty now has a team-high 31 saves this season while filling in for
Kira Osler and
Emily Lozano.
