Box Score DALLAS -- The men's basketball varsity team shot out of a rocket to start the 2022-23 season with a 73-41 victory over Dallas Thunder. The 32-point winning margin is the most in a season opener since the 2016-17 season when the Friars defeated Legacy Christian 82-46.
A few days later, the men's basketball program competed in the Jimmy Gates Showcase against North Mesquite at P.C. Cobb Arena. The team came out strong again and defeated the Stallions 51-35.
Against Dallas Thunder, the Friars were hot offensively, shooting over 50% from the field and having five double-digit scorers: Hayden Bauyer (13),
Devin Miller (12),
Hamilton Plumlee (12),
Aiden Schnurr (10) and
Corey Webster (10).
In the North Mesquite game, the Friars had three scorers in double figures:
Cole Milkereit (13),
Devin Miller (12) and
Baker Trent (10). Defensively, the Friars held the Stallions to under 40% shooting from the field and created 25 turnovers.
