Men get their first district win of the season over Nolan Catholic

Box Score DALLAS - The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team earned their first district win of the season with a dominant 55-29 victory over Nolan Catholic on Tuesday night. With the win, BL moves to 17-8 on the season and 1-1 in district play.

The Friars and Vikings played a competitive and defensive first quarter which resulted in BL having a slight 9-4 lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter remained a defensive battle until the final 2:55 minutes before halftime. The score was 14-8 when Aiden Schnurr made his first three-pointer to break open the game. The Friars finished the final three minutes on a 15-4 run that was capped off by a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Schnurr, his third of the quarter. The leading scorers at the half were Schnurr with 10 and Devin Miller, Baker Trent and Corey Webster all with four points to give the Friars a 29-12 advantage.

In the second half, the Friars continued to show intensity on the defensive side of the court. They held Nolan to 17 points in the second half after allowing just 12 in the first. The Vikings were not able to score double-digits in any quarter throughout the night.

After the first quarter, the Friars' offense showed a lot of life throughout the game. Schnurr ended the night with a game-high 13 points followed by Baker, Webster and Cole Milkereit all scoring seven.

Over the holiday break, the men's team remained busy playing in six games. They defeated Cistercian and Van Alstyne at home, both solid victories. In the DISD tournament, they went 2-2, defeating WT White and Grand Prairie and losing to OD Wyatt and Cedar Hill.

Next Up:
The Friars host John Paul II tomorrow at 7:30 in the Competition Gym. Both teams are 1-1 in district play.

Sub-Varsity:
Both the junior varsity and freshman team defeated Nolan on Tuesday night. The JV won 73-25 while the freshmen won 66-36.
