DALLAS -- The Bishop Lynch women's soccer team defeated Incarnate Word out of San Antonio 12-0 on Tuesday afternoon in front of a packed Roffino Stadium. Ten Friars found the back of the net in the dominant area playoff win.
Scoring opened up early with
Bella Alamo scoring the game's first goal from a great pass from
Bella Sanchez. This was the sophomore's team-leading 10th goal of the season. After no goals for 12 minutes, the floodgates opened when
Ellis Kuntz scored the game's second goal from a great pass from
Alyx Beard making it 2-0.
The Friars would close out the half by getting goals from
Sasha Mascarenhas,
Lola Dye,
Lydia Fontane and
Madison Murphy. The goals from Dye and Fontane were their first of the season.
The second half was more of the same for Bishop Lynch. They scored six more times, including Mascarenhas and Murphy each getting their second. Other goal scorers included
Alyx Beard,
Katie Visintainer,
Reese Myers and
Danielle Howard.
The Friars' goalkeepers weren't completely left out of the match as both
Alicia Gonzalez and
Lily Bracken each had one save.
With the victory, the women's soccer team advances to the regional round where they will face off against the top team from District 2, St. Agnes Academy. The game will be on Saturday, February 25th at 11:00 AM. The game will be hosted by St. Agnes at their East Campus Athletic Complex.
