ROUND ROCK, TX -- For the first time since 2018-2019 the women's soccer team made it to the TAPPS 6A semi-finals. In a windy match, the Friars fell to the defending champions John Paul II 2-1.

After 30 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Friars struck first. Taking advantage of a handball in the box from the Cardinals, Katie Visintainer connected on the PK attempt to put the Friars up 1-0 with nine minutes to go in the first half. With all the momentum, BL wanted to close out the half with the advantage.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as the Cardinals were able to score twice, including once in the final 45 seconds. This resulted in the Friars trailing 2-1 at the half.

At the beginning of the second half, the Friars came out with a lot of aggressiveness on offense. This resulted in great looks at a goal. The best chance the Friars had in the second half came from Bella Alamo, who nearly tied it up but the JPII goalkeeper made a great play on the ball to save it.

After 40 minutes of leaving it all on the field, the clock struck zero with the score 2-1 in favor of our rival.

The ladies had an amazing season that included 14 wins and victories over Ursuline and St. Agnes. The 14 wins were the most a Bishop Lynch women's soccer team has had since they won state in 2018-2019.

Congratulations to the entire women's soccer program on a fantastic 2022-2023 season.
