DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch women's soccer team had not played since their 3-1 victory over Prestonwood Christian Academy on December 14, but last night they showed no rust as they defeated the reigning TAPPS 6A runners-up John Paul II 2-0 in Roffino Stadium.

The women knew they needed to start of the match aggressively, and they did just that putting the pressure on the Cardinals from the opening whistle. That intensity paid off in the sixteenth minute when captain Bailey Romack struck a beautiful ball from 30 yards out to break the 0-0 tie and give the Friars a one-goal advantage. The Friars continued to play hard throughout the rest of the half which provided them with the same lead at the break.

With stellar play from the midfield and backline, the Friars were able to control the tempo of the game throughout the second half. The continued pressure led to a corner kick with just over 10 minutes to play with the match still 1-0 in favor of the Friars. Emma Soignier lined up to take the corner kick and placed a perfect ball to the back post where Ellis Kuntz connected with her head to make it 2-0 BL.

The Friars held off any attack the Cardinals tried in the final 10 minutes to secure the 2-0 victory. This is the Friars' second straight district victory and it moved their record to 3-1 in district play.

SUB-VARSITY:
Junior Varsity: Like the varsity, the JV team defeated John Paul II 2-0 last night in Roffino. This victory improved their record to 3-1-2 on the season.
