DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch women's soccer team gave Friar Nation an offensive masterclass on Monday afternoon as the Friars defeated Incarnate Word Academy 6-0 in the TAPPS Area Playoff Round.
The first 20 minutes of the match saw a lot of action around the Falcon net but no goals for the Friars. That changed in the 21st minute of the first half when
Sasha Mascarenhas crossed the ball into the box and the ball found
Madison Murphy's right boot as she made it 1-0 Friars.
Mascarenhas followed up her assist with a goal just three minutes later as
Olivia Alvarez set up the senior to score her fourth goal in the last five matches, making it 2-0 Friars.
The floodgates were now open because, with just over 10 minutes to go in the half, Murphy had a spectacular individual effort and finish for her second goal of the match to make it 3-0.
The sophomore wasn't done yet either as she wrapped up the first half hat trick in the 33' from another great cross from Mascarenhas. Murphy's third goal made it 4-0, which wound up being the halftime score of the TAPPS Area Playoff match.
The second half started differently for the Friars. It took them over 20 minutes to find the back of the net to begin the match, but in the second half, it took them just over 20 seconds to add on to their lead.
Emma Soignier hit an absolute rocket from 27 yards out that got past the keeper to make it 5-0 in favor of the black and white.
Abby Dufilho had the assist on the Soignier goal.
Bishop Lynch found one more goal from senior
Rachel Weber in the 66' to make it 6-0 as that would be the final score of the match.
TAPPS AREA PLAYOFF RESULTS:
John Paul II defeated Loretto Academy, 7-0
Parish Episcopal defeated The Village School, 5-0
Antonian defeated Trinity Christian, 1-0
Ursuline plays Concordia Lutheran at 2:00 p.m. on 2/27
Nolan Catholic plays Incarnate Word High School at 2:00 p.m. on 2/27

Bishop Lynch will host once again in the TAPPS Regional Playoff round. They will take on St. Pius X on Thursday, February 29 at 2:30 p.m. CT in Roffino Stadium.
